Merging European classicism and Chinese traditionalism, Honnart uses ink wash like oil paint to sculpt solid figures out of silken line. The result is evocative; powerful. Chinese pigments and Italian chiaroscuro combine to form an Asian Renaissance that never existed. Following the success of her solo exhibitions in Italy & France 2010/11, the Elisabeth de Brabant Art Center presents Valérie Honnart's new series of inks on silk in a solo exhibition “From the Well”, opening May 12, 2011 in the Art Center.
