Born in Spain and raised in the UK, Alexandra Diez de Rivera is a photographer that lives and works in Shanghai.

Diez de Rivera holds a Post Graduate Degree in Communication Design from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, London.

It is no surprise that Alexandra’s work is about people and places. Brought up in the UK by a Spanish father, Argentine mother and French step-father her whole life has been about adapting to new places and getting to know different people.

Her fluency in English, French, Spanish, and improving Mandarin has spared her the language barriers and allowed her to concentrate on the essence of her subjects to get her portraits right.

Eight years in Spain, fourteen in Britain, another six in France and now two in China have added to the photographer’s sensitivity and understanding of different cultures and personalities.

The concept based nature of Alexandra’s work make her as much a story teller as a photographer and her pictures are as much entertaining as they are visually engaging. Humour often plays a role in the photographer’s work lest we forget everything in life can be taken with a pinch of salt. With her background in graphic design and passion for photography Alexandra’s images naturally merge the two mediums.

Alexandra has shot families in Shanghai, Beijing, Tokyo, Paris and London and is looking forward to seeing where the project takes her next!
